Modern Slavery

1. Introduction
Weststone Construction is committed to conducting business responsibly, ethically and in compliance with all applicable laws. We recognise that modern slavery and human trafficking are significant global issues and we take seriously our responsibility to prevent such practices within our operations and supply chains. This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015.

2. Our Business
Weststone Construction operates across the UK, delivering residential, commercial and infrastructure projects. Our workforce includes direct employees, subcontractors, and agency staff. Given the nature of the construction industry, we acknowledge that risks of modern slavery may arise in areas such as labour supply, subcontracting and procurement of materials.

3. Our Supply Chains
Our supply chains include:

• Subcontracted labour and specialist trades
• Suppliers of construction materials (cement, steel, timber, aggregates, fixtures etc.)
• Plant and equipment hire companies
• Professional services and consultants

We recognise that certain parts of our supply chain, particularly those involving low-skilled labour and imported materials, may present higher risks of exploitation.

4. Policies and Commitments
Weststone Construction has implemented the following policies to mitigate risks:
• Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy – outlining zero tolerance for slavery and trafficking.
• Supplier Code of Conduct – requiring suppliers and subcontractors to comply with UK labour laws and ethical standards.
• Whistleblowing Policy – enabling staff and contractors to report concerns confidentially.
• Recruitment Policy – ensuring fair hiring practices and preventing exploitation through agencies.

5. Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We conduct risk assessments to identify areas of potential vulnerability, focusing on:
• Labour agencies and subcontractors providing temporary or migrant workers.
• Suppliers sourcing raw materials from regions with known human rights risks.
• On-site practices, including working hours, pay and living conditions.

Due diligence measures include supplier questionnaires, contractual clauses and audits where appropriate.

6. Training and Awareness
We provide training to employees, managers and procurement teams to:
• Recognise signs of modern slavery and trafficking.
• Understand reporting procedures.
• Promote ethical practices across projects.

7. Monitoring and Performance
Weststone Construction monitors compliance through:
• Regular supplier reviews.
• Site inspections and audits.
• Tracking reports of concerns raised via whistleblowing channels.

We are committed to continuous improvement and will review our policies annually.

8. Approval
This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors of Weststone Construction and will be reviewed and updated annually.
